2017 Isuzu MU-X LS-U (4x4): owner review
Owner Review | 29 Nov 2018
Buying the isuzu mux has been the best decision ever. We upgraded from a 2007 honda crv. Being a diesel mechanic and previously was working for isuzu ute dealership in a coastal town I always wanted to buy one. The main reason with buying the isuzu mux was the known reliability of the 3.0 litre TD the vehicle is practical from front to back. Isuzu in my eyes have always been behind the times regarding technology but I reckon that's a good thing because really how long will all the jammed pack technology that other vehicles have last for and how much money it will cost when it's out of warranty. We have owned the isuzu mux for 12 months now and racked up 27,000km the fuel economy is fantastic with 2 children and the boot fully loaded the mux comfortable sits on 110kmph and only reving at 1,600rpm on the highway it achieves 7.4 litres per hundred 850kms traveled still with a range of 150km to go. I really want to make it to 1000km on one tank but ill try it when the wife and kids aren't in the car it will save a massive headache if I run it out of fuel. We have had no issues at all I am a very fussy diesel mechanic our mux has always been serviced every 5,000km you cannot over service a vehicle my aim is to rack up 500,000kms on her. Apart from regular servicing the only mods are a straight through exhaust ( no muffler) as it's a DPD model I have maximum exhaust flow with no noise! I have put a provent oil catch can and a EGR delete cable on. The only dislike is the DPD because it does its burnoff sometimes when you're almost home and you've gotta keep driving until its finished not really efficient in that way but I think it's just bad timing. Saying that isuzu does have the best location of the DPD sitting right behind the turbo the hottest part in the exhaust and thats a good thing. Another big bonus my wife loves the car and so does her parents so much they bought one too. We just purchased a caravan the isuzu mux pulls it with ease always looking in mirrors make sure it's still there lol. Value for money reliable and practical looks fantastic can't beat it I'll buy another one any day.
2017 Isuzu MU-X LS-U (4x2) review
Owner Review | 12 Oct 2018
We could not be more happy with our MUX. it replaced a 2015 Rav4 2.5 litre petrol 4wd but we needed a tow motor. The MUX tows effortlessly with good fuel economy under load. Unladen the fuel economy is outstanding. We commonly get up to 1000k from a 65 litre tank & arrive fresh. The drive train is excellent. The tireless diesel & 6 speed auto are a great pairing although active cruise control would be nice. The interior is spot on with plenty of storage, great seats for up to 7, fabulous dual a/c for those hot days & sat nav that works well. General fit & build quality is excellent & this car has everything we need & nothing we don't. What can I say....we love it. After almost 30k nothing has played up, malfunctioned or failed. The service intervals are every 10,000 k with oil changes scheduled for every 20,000 k but I have the engine oil & filter changed every 10,000k for my own peace of mind. I don't think my MUX can be beaten for value for money. I can't comment on off road ability as it's a 4×2 which is all we need for our use but on unmade roads the ride is excellent but on road it soaks up bumps effortlessly whilst maintaining decent handling. All round vision is excellent the reversing camera gives a great view of the tow bar making hitching up a trailer or van a breeze. Today we have driven from Forster to Armidale using little fuel. A handy feature is that on downhill runs softly applying the brake will kick back a gear or two & help keep the speed from building up, a feature I find really handy. The hill hold function is much simpler to use than the Rav. Just apply the brake, apply throttle & away you go. The grandkids love "sitting in the boot" . The third row of seats although seldom used is simple to deploy & roomy for the smaller humans in our life complete with cup holders for that row. The dual a/c spoils us on those hot days bringing down the temp to a comfortable level very quickly. This car is perfect for our needs having all the creature comforts without overdoing anything. I can't reccomend it more highly.
2014 Isuzu D-Max LS-M Hi-Ride (4x4) review
Owner Review | 2 May 2018
Purchased in feb 15. Only warranty problem was leaking rear brake light seal into the cabin behind the rear seat.. Excellent sales and mediocre service dept at place purchesed. Change dealerships after 70000 and warranty accepted and repaired with no fuss.the only other detractor is the tub tie down points. Only 4 in bad positions. The dealers attitude at sunshine coast eas excellent and had access to courtesy car as well as bus to local area. This vehicle has outstanding fuel economy 8.6l/ 100 a good strong engine albeit rattly due to the life of engine timing gear and never let me down on and off road. Good towing performance and great at chewing up highway kms. The 5 speed manual gearbox was silky smooth once run in and was more than happy to pull hard overtaking in 5th gear. Great reflector headlights that were not carried over to the 2017 ungortunately so good that the spotties made little difference when on ( ipf 900 with 130w lamps ). Paintwork finish was great in the silver and no blemishes. Inspection after 3 years revealed no evidence off rust even though had a bit of beach work. I still cleaned after use of course. Tyres wore well and replaced at 70000 with mickey thompson atrs. Simple inside cabin controls with a reasonable sound system with bluetooth audio and phone capabilities. Functional vynil floor and plastics with good storage especially for drinks. 2 dash cupholders 2 centre console and 2 in the doorskin.. Reasonable rear seat room. Added dealer accessories that come with vehicle warranty towbar. Tonneau. Nudge bar. Roof racks. Sold at 110000 km with no issues at a very reasonable private resale in the 75% retention region not to be sneezed at after 3 years. . This vehicle wore very well and the steering and driveline were nice and tight as to be expected with the same driver and 90% highway kms. So impressed i bought the 2018 model which other than the lights gearbox and minor internal engine mods is essentially the same car. In short this is a ute trying to be a truck punching above its weight not a ute trying to be a car.

2015 Isuzu D-MAX LS-U Hi-Ride (4x4) review
Owner Review | 7 Dec 2016
I've owned my D-Max for just over one year. Since buying it I've added a snorkel, bullbar, winch, rear recovery bar, oil catch can, and led driving lights. I find it comfortable, quiet in the cabin, and economical. The transmission and clutch feel light and solid at the same time. My only quibble is the gear stick throw could be a little narrower. The placement of the transfer case switch, being a large silver knob on the centre console is a bit annoying and could be accidentally activated by a curious child. This would only be a distraction as the transfer case can be switched into 4H at up to 100kph and is locked out of 4L unless stopped. I would have preferred it higher up on the dash, near the steering wheel. The two glove boxes are handy with an extra 12volt outlet. The lighting is good but the reverse lights leave a bit to be desired. I've added two LED lights to remedy this. My major criticism would be the air conditioning. On the hottest days (40 plus degrees) it has to be run at maximum constantly but does keep the cabin comfortable. While many "professional" reviewers focus on the lack of gadgets and "connectivity" I find this to be a bonus. I was looking for a basic, reliable, capable, uncomplicated ute and that's what I got in the Isuzu D-Max. Better yet the purchase price comes in well under the nearest competitor. I recommend this ute to anyone who doesn't want to pay a motza for a brand or who isn't interested in crap like OEM GPS, seat warmers and built in penis strokers.
